Hello! I’m Akila Osakwe, LMHC, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Seattle Neurocounseling PLLC, based in Kirkland, WA.
As an African American provider, I bring a culturally inclusive perspective to my work, valuing the diverse backgrounds and experiences of each client I serve.
My areas of expertise include trauma, parent support and family issues, postpartum and prenatal care, anxiety, depression, and ADHD. I take a collaborative approach to therapy, working closely with clients to create a personalized treatment plan that suits their unique needs and preferences.
In our sessions, I provide psychoeducation on brain function, neuropathways, and the importance of repetition for skill development, integrating these insights with traditional therapeutic approaches. My goal is to empower you with knowledge and tools, so together we can navigate life’s challenges and work toward positive change.
I have a deep appreciation for diversity, which informs my inclusive approach to counseling. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with diverse populations, including Native tribes in Alaska and traveling throughout the world to places like Canada, Portugal, Croatia, Vietnam, Korea, Peru, and Guatemala, to name a few. This exposure to various cultures and perspectives, enriches my practice and enhances my understanding of my clients’ experiences. Outside of work, I love exploring new destinations, cooking, enjoying music, dining out, and appreciating art.
I am available to see clients Monday from 3:00 PM-7:00 PM and Tuesday through Friday from 4:30 PM-8:30 PM.
