Avani Vimawala blends neuroscience-informed therapy with sleep medicine and trauma-focused care expertise to provide a compassionate, integrative approach to mental health. With over 20 years of healthcare experience, Avani supports clients dealing with various life challenges and transitions, including stress related to work, school, relationship issues, and life changes, as well as trauma and sleep issues. Fluent in English, Gujarati, and Hindi, she offers therapy that bridges Western and Eastern healing perspectives, focusing on culturally sensitive care for the Asian community and others navigating cultural identity and family dynamics.
Avani is an intern completing a Masters Degree in Counseling at Seattle University. She is practicing under the supervision of Carmen Benway and Angelica De Anda.

Avani is certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), polyvagal-informed, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. She uses a neuroscience-informed approach that includes Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) and relational cultural therapy (RCT), supporting clients with evidence-based, trauma-focused methods. Her practice recognizes the connection between mind and body, helping clients access their natural resilience.

Avani aims to create a safe, stable therapeutic environment where clients can explore challenges and work towards meaningful, lasting change.

Avani’s approach to therapy is both warm and professional. In your initial sessions, you can expect a collaborative space where you’re encouraged to share your concerns openly. You’ll set clear, personalized goals together, and Avani will introduce practical, evidence-based strategies to help you reach them. With regular check-ins to ensure that the therapy aligns with your needs, Avani supports clients in making progress at their own pace. Her unique combination of neuroscience-informed techniques provides insights into the mind-body connection, offering concrete tools you can apply daily.

Insurance and Payment Options

Avani currently accepts new clients and offers in-person and telehealth sessions with flexible appointment times. As a masters level intern, Avani cannot accept commercial insurance plans. She accepts:
1. Medicaid plans: Molina Healthcare, Coordinated Care, and Community Health Plan of Washington
2. Cash pay at $90 per session (not reimbursable by commercial insurance plans) - May be eligible to use FSA/HSA for payment.
